bio

you can call me jeff essex — i'm a musician, singer and songwriter (and a performer and artist in a whole bunch of other venues and media). i was born and raised just outside of new york city, spent some time living in los angeles, and i've visited a lot of places in between. i'm adventurous, quirky, and i'm fond of wit — and all of that seems to come out in my music.

my songs range from quiet and thoughtful through silly and fun to hard and intense. i'm primarily a singer, but i also play the guitar, dabble with harmonica and piano, and i can still remember how to get a tune out of a bass guitar or my twenty-two-string celtic harp. (my days on the sax are long gone, but a little bit of practice might bring back the skills.) until i start hanging out with other experienced musicians more regularly, any other sounds you hear on my tracks are digitally created.

take a look around the site, listen to some samples of my tracks, and just generally figure out what i'm about (good luck, there). the site will be updated as my music develops, as news pops up, and when i have time to upload new samples.
